Description

The present set-up is designed to study the axial fancharacteristics. The set-up consists of a variable speed DCmotor, coupled to an axial fan, in a housing. The motorrotates the fan inside the housing, and due to force,exerted by the blades of the fan, partial pressure isdeveloped at the inlet and outlet of the housing. A speedcontrol unit facilitates user, to have experimentations ondifferent speeds, to enhance the study. RPM of theimpellers are measured and indicated on a digital RPMindicator in control panel. The air flows through a roundduct pipe where instrumentation has been done tomeasure the pressure head, velocity and flow. A pitottube with differential pressure manometer is provided toobserve and find out the static and dynamic head of air,flowing through the pipe line. A control valve is alsoprovided to regulate the flow of air. The set-up completein all respect, to understand the performance andefficiency of the axial fan.
