Description

The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given gear pump. The gear pump is coupled to DCmotor. A speed control arrangement facilitates the enduser to operate the gear pump at different speeds. Tocalculate the input power to the motor, an energy meteris provided. A RPM Indicator with Proximity sensorindicates the RPM of Pump. Present set-up is selfcontainedoil re-circulating unit, provided with a sumptank, gear pump etc. Oil is pumped by means of gearpump and passing through the pipeline, it returns back tothe sump which make the system re-circulating type.Flow of oil is diverted either to measuring tank or sumptank with the means of a flow diverter, when needed.Control valves and Pressure gauges are fitted in suctionand discharge line of the gear pump to conduct theexperiments on different head and flow. Flow rate of oil ismeasured with the help of measuring tank withpiezometer and stopwatch. The supplied set up iscomplete in all respect. Only oil and electricity supply is tobe provided by the end user for running the set-up.
