Description

The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given reciprocating pump. The reciprocating pump iscoupled to DC motor. A speed control arrangementfacilitates the end user to operate the reciprocating pumpat different speeds. To calculate the input power to themotor, an energy meter is provided. A RPM Indicator with Proximity sensor indicates the RPM of Pump.Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit,provided with a sump tank, reciprocating pump etc.Water is pumped by means of reciprocating pump andpassing through the pipeline, it returns back to the sumpwhich make the system re circulating type. Flow of wateris diverted either to measuring tank or sump tank withthe means of a flow diverter, when needed. Controlvalves and Pressure gauges are fitted in suction anddischarge line of the reciprocating pump to conduct theexperiments on different head and flow. Flow rate ofwater is measured with the help of measuring tank withpiezometer and stopwatch. The supplied set-up iscomplete in all respect. Only water supply and electricitysupply is to be provided by the end user for running theset-up
